Capability Map Visualizer
The Capability Map Visualizer is a free interactive tool for exploring structured business capability maps across eight industries. Browse Level 1 domains and Level 2 capabilities with definitions, filter by capability type, search, and export your selection — no sign-up required.
What the tool does
If you've never seen a professionally structured capability map, this shows you what one looks like: L1 domains decomposed into L2 capabilities, each classified as Strategic, Core, or Supporting, with a one-line definition. It covers Financial Services, Retail, Healthcare, Manufacturing, Logistics & Transport, Technology/SaaS, Education, and Energy & Utilities — for example, the Financial Services map spans six domains and twenty-eight capabilities from Customer & Distribution to Operations & Support.
How it works
Pick an industry, expand domains to browse capabilities, and use the search box or the Strategic/Core/Supporting filter to narrow the view. Check "Add to My Map" on the capabilities you want and export the selection as a text file organized by domain — a quick starting skeleton for your own model.
When to use it
Use it to orient stakeholders on what a capability map is, to sanity-check the shape of a draft model against an industry reference, or to pull a starter list of capabilities for a workshop. The visualizer shows a representative L1/L2 sample; complete models with L3–L4 decomposition, definitions, and maturity frameworks are in the Capstera Store.
