The Capability Naming Convention Checker is a free instant tool that reviews your capability names against business architecture best practices. Paste a list and it flags verb-based activity names, technology and system names, organizational units, vague terms, and unexplained acronyms — and suggests corrections for each.

What the tool does

Capability maps lose credibility fast when names describe activities ("Manage Payroll"), systems ("SAP System"), or departments ("HR Department") instead of stable business abilities. This checker automates the review that experienced architects do by eye, so you can clean a draft model before circulating it.

How it works

Paste capability names one per line or comma-separated — no sign-up, nothing leaves your browser. Each name is checked against six categories: verb-based activity names, technology/system names, organizational units, vague terms, unexplained acronyms, and valid capability names. Issues come with an explanation and a suggested correction (for example, a verb prefix is stripped and the name recast as a noun phrase). A Naming Quality Score summarizes the share of valid names, banded Good (80%+), Fair (60%+), or Poor.

How to read your results

Treat suggestions as a starting point, not gospel — automated corrections can't know your domain. The six best-practice rules shown beside the results (noun phrases, domain-specific, no technology names, no org units, spelled-out acronyms, consistent title case) are the durable takeaway. Use "Copy Fixed Names" to pull the corrected list back into your model.
