Process vs. Capability Classifier
The Process vs. Capability Classifier is a free three-minute quiz that tests one of the most common confusions in business architecture: telling a business process from a business capability. Classify twenty real-world items and get an explanation for every answer plus a score-based profile.
Why this distinction matters
Capabilities are stable abilities ("Financial Management", "Risk Management"); processes are sequences of work ("Order-to-Cash", "Approve Purchase Order"). Mixing them is the fastest way to produce a capability map that decays into a process inventory — and the confusion is common enough that this quiz exists.
How it works
Twenty items — ten processes, ten capabilities, drawn from finance, HR, supply chain, IT, and customer operations — are shown one at a time. After each answer you see whether you were right and why, with practical tips on the patterns (verb phrases and "X-to-Y" names signal processes; noun phrases naming an ability signal capabilities). Your final score maps to a profile from Beginner up to Capability Architecture Expert, and a full answer key recaps all twenty explanations.
